Charles Alexander Moffat.

Moffat studied painting, sculpture, photography, lithography, drawing, mural painting  installation art and art history at York University and became highly influenced by the photography of Cindy Sherman. During his years at York University he also studied gender issues and feminism. His artwork during this period dealt primarily with issues of gothic culture, sexuality, gender and feminism. "Inside the Feminist" was made in the Summer of 2000. The concept behind the series is to give an inside look of what a feminist can be like. Society has many stereotypes of what a feminist can be. Many or all of these stereotypes are false because there is no one single definition of feminism and what it means to be a feminist. Some people actually think it is a bad word and others believe feminists are the greatest freedom fighters of all time. Who are feminists really? Maybe you are one and don't realize it. If you believe in equality, then you are a feminist according to Moffat. What is your definition?

What is Feminism ?

The feminism definition can be talked about in many different ways, but what it mostly comes down to is the issues that are concerned with the gender inequalities and equal right for women. Either way you look at is feminism definition has changed aspects of western society and has been doing it for many years now. There are many different issues that fall under feminism definition and this could include abortion, domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, and equal rights in the work place. Some things that have come up from feminism definition when talking about the work place is maternity leave and equal pay. These are two things that are good that came out of feminism definition. Of course, things also work at tearing the feminism definition apart. Some issues, like abortion, have the whole movement split into two different groups. These two groups are pro-life (who are against abortion) and mothers choice (who are for abortion). The women that are for abortion feel like it should be the mothers choice whether she wants to keep the baby or not. The women that are against it feel like abortion is wrong and should not take place. However, people agree that it is not fair to make a women have a baby if she does not want it. There are many different cases in which many people feel it is wrong to make a women have a baby, and one of these cases is rape. Making a women have a baby after she was raped will remind her of being raped every time she looks at the child; that is not fair for the mother. So where do we draw the line with what is right and what is wrong???
